• What facilities are provided in Sotto Le Stelle Suites?
o We have tried to think of everything which our guests might require to enjoy a de luxe holiday in a special environment: home from home.
• How old are the suites?
o Although part of the building dates back to 1000 AD and the remainder was built in 1711, three hundred years later in 2011the whole structure and interior was completely refurbished and modernized to the highest modern standards and to meet all current regulations
• How far from Picinisco is Sotto Le Stelle?
o The Sotto Le Stelle Suites are situated at one of the ancient gates to the Old Town – Porta della Prece and are only a few metres from main the Piazza Ernesto Capocci.
• Is car parking available?
o Limited car parking is available within the Piazza, but parking exists at the nearby Largo Montana, less than 100 metres away. Speak to the concierge, who will arrange it for you.
• How Far from Rome or Naples is Picinisco?
o Each is less than 2 hours away and accessible by road, rail (from Cassino) or if you wish by helicopter. If you wish to visit the cities but don’t wish to drive in the city traffic, our Concierge will arrange a private car transfer for you.
• Where are the nearest airports?
o Rome has 2 airports, Ciampino (served by Ryanair and Easy Jet) is 1.5 hours away while Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) (serving all national and international airlines) is 2 hours away. Capodichino at Naples is also 1.5 hours away. Don’t forget that at certain times of the week, traffic can be very heavy and its worth checking if you should allow extra time for your journey.
• Where is the nearest train station?
o Cassino is the nearest station. It is 30 mins by road from Picinisco
• Is there a bus service?
o Yes. Details are available with the Concierge.
• Are there any taxi services available?
o Yes. Details are available with the Concierge.
• What activities are available in the area?
o Most interests are catered for. Check our Guide to Val Comino and speak to the Concierge.
• Are towels and linen provided?
o Yes. Quality English bedding and towels are provided. If you require any more please feel free to ask the Concierge who shall arrange this with housekeeping.
• What happens with housekeeping?
o Rooms are cleaned daily and beds made at the same time. If you require an evening turn down service please request this when you check in or at any time during your stay and we shall do our best to provide it.
o Beds are changed twice a week for guests staying more than 4 days. If you require any further changes, these can be arranged for a small charge.
• Is Breakfast provided?
o Normally we do not provide breakfast, but this can be organized at the time of booking of required and delivered to your suite.
• Is there a Restaurant in the hotel?
o We decided not to provide a restaurant in the Hotel to avoid competing with the local facilities. In the village enjoy:
– La Locanda di Arturo – right next door
– Casa Lawrence
– Il Barracone (this is at Prata di Mezzo (at 1400 metres), which is 20 minutes by car, and only hours if you choose to walk). Perfect for a weekend lunch.
Opening hours do change from time to time so we recommend checking by phone or ask the Concierge to make a booking for you. The Concierge also maintains a list of our favourite eat places in other towns within and outwith Val Comino. Moreover, guide books are available at the Concierge desk for you to consult.
• Is there a Bar in the Hotel?
o We decided not to provide a bar to avoid competing with the local bars and cafes, all of which we recommend:-
– Bar Central is in the Piazza, merely 15 metres away from the hotel – Paula or Monica are always there to help
– Bar Terrazza is a further 25 metre walk! But Matteo and Donatella will be there to greet you.
The Concierge will be able to arrange for drinks to be brought to your suite if you give a little notice. Each suite has its own fridge and ice is always available in the Ice Machine situated in the Locale Tecnico.
• If we want to provide a snack or meal for ourselves, where can we buy provisions?
o Firstly, each suite contains necessary pots, pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery to enable you to cook for yourselves or prepare a snack, if you wish
o All essentials (and some luxuries) can be bought at Alimentari Agostino. If you wish any items these can be delivered before your arrival. Please email or phone the Concierge. Details of other supermarkets in the area can be found in our Guide to Val Comino.
o Pizza, sandwiches, biscuits and cakes can be bought at Dora’s Bakery in the Piazza.
o La Locanda di Arturo can organize to deliver ready prepared meals to you if you wish. Speak to the Concierge or speak directly to the Restaurant.
• What about shopping?
o Shopping to meet all international tastes can be found in Cassino and Sora, but enjoy finding local delicacies and crafts.
